    Sometimes we gotta “embrace the suck” when it comes to the boring repetitive stuff, but I’ve found that there is such an excitement and proud feeling I get when I repeat things and perfect them! Sometimes I’ll even practice the boring repetitive while I’m watching tv or so. Cause at least that way it’s still practice! Playing guitar is a skill that needs to be cultivated and grown over time for certain! But I love so much that I have this skill, it’s added more to my life than I can begin to explain!

    Very helpful. Thanks. Do you know if there is a way to bookmark a section of a song? For example when i'm learning a solo I'll have to manually reselect the part when I open the file. Is there a way to just save that bit for easy reselection?

    • @SimpleGuitarDotCom
      @SimpleGuitarDotCom 18 днів тому

      I don’t know if there is a way to do that. But you could create a new file for that section and copy/paste the section you want to work on. Just make sure you get the right tempo and time signature

    I just wanna worship Jesus thru music with guitar like Jason bellard.....learning how to play guitar is difficult and painful, my wrist starts locking up. I'm trying bee sting therapy but quickly loose interest due to fore arm cramps. I'm gonna continue to listen to your teachings till I figure it out. Thank you and "seek the Lord while He may be found ".

    I might be weird, but I actually like doing the monotonous stuff. I can do it over and over for at the very least 20min. I strive for perfection and have the motivation to get faster little by little. I do not know if this is a problem, but I do find my mind wandering a little bit and when I come back to what I am doing, I am right on time with the metronome and playing with very few mistakes. I wonder if that means I should move on to something more challenging?

    • @SimpleGuitarDotCom
      @SimpleGuitarDotCom 21 день тому

      That is a good sign that you can challenge yourself a bit more. That's how you're going to keep getting better, though, and you're doing awesome!

    • @Minutes2midnight01
      @Minutes2midnight01 20 днів тому

      I think it’s great that you strive for perfection! That makes everything you do all that much better! We build up on the basics, build up on the boring, build into something incredible and amazing! Start challenging yourself more little by little!

    Hello does anyone know how to get callus on the proximal (base) bone of the index finger? I need callus on it (i think) because i have a damn hard time with barre chords, especially the higher frets on my Eastman (western) guitar. It is a pain in the ass to not being able to play the higher barre chords.

    I am confused figuring out one thing. In most of the videos about excercising I've watched, people said that you should keep fingers against the fretboard all the time while practicing spiderwalk. I tried that way and found it really hard going down the string from 6 to 1 because fingers which were kept against fretboard interfered. Great video though. Thank you

      Inspiring ! I am soon going to be 54 and started learning open chords recently - twenty minutes daily . What I realised till date is slow learning is fruitful for me , I mean learning and practicing one open chord per week on the daily basis and so total four open chords in a month . After this , chord progressions what I had practiced on the previous month . On the weekend I practiced 3 hours . I have three guitars - an Acoustic , an electric and a classical which I use on the weekend . I practice finger exercises mostly on the classical guitar . My thoughts are giving more time to the beginner level would be beneficial which I think lasts for one year . And yes I regularly watch guitar tutorials and alike on the UA-cam . Please correct me if my learning thoughts are wrong or not appropriate .

    The idea with this exercise is to isolate finger independence. You should only move one finger at a time leaving all the rest on the note they land on as you walk up or down. This focuses you to move your fingers independently and forces you to pay attention not to mute lower strings as you pick them.
